Welcome to the 8^th IWA International Conference on eco-Technologies for Wastewater Treatment to be held from 28^th of June to 2^nd of July 2027 in İstanbul, Türkiye.

Starting with the first event in Spain in 2012, IWA ecoSTP has evolved into a highly successful conference series, with subsequent events taking place in Italy (2014), the United Kingdom (2016), Canada (2018), Italy (2021), Spain (2023) and finally in Sweden (2025). The inspiring conference series has attracted the growing interest and top-level contributions from the scientific community, water utilities, companies in the water sector, local and regional authorities, and other stakeholders.

8^th IWA EcoSTP 2027 will present a platform for highlighting the technological innovations for the water market by bringing together researchers, water industry professionals and water authorities, and thus, it will create the necessary atmosphere for the fruitful discussions on:

• Urban and Industrial Wastewater Treatment Technologies and Processes
• Water Resource Management and Circularity
• Environmental, Digital, Social and Governance Frameworks

In this context, the conference topics will include advanced integrated treatment approaches including physico-chemical and biological technologies, for the treatment of conventional and emerging pollutants as well as circular and sustainable reflections for resource recovery and water reuse, applicable for centralized and decentralized solutions.

Topics like climate change mitigation and adaptation in wastewater management, digitalization, modelling and decision support tools, techno-economical evaluation of the innovative technologies and social dimensions of wastewater treatment and waste-derived products will also be covered in the conference.

The conference will be organized by two established and pioneer research groups at Istanbul Technical University and Yildiz Technical University, Türkiye and supported by the Turkish National Committee on Water Pollution Research and Control (SKATMK - IWA Türkiye), IWA Anaerobic Digestion Specialist Group (ADSG) and IWA Nutrient Removal and Recovery Specialist Group (NRRSG).
